We encourage all Algarve Senior Living visitors, residents and guests to obtain their European Health card before leaving home (if an EU citizen) or to obtain adequate travel and medical insurance (or both, if appropriate). Please note that while many insurance providers do not cover preventative care, there are some exceptions, so please check your individual policy to see whether some of the costs of our medical services package might be reimbursable. See below for details of our starter pack, and a list of our on-site medical services and off-site agreements.

For those staying for longer than 3 months, Algarve Senior Living will, should you purchase our medical services package:
Send you an initial nutrition questionnaire for completion and return prior to your visit
Create a user record and send you your password for access to our preferred medical information system
Ask that you provide as much relevant background on your health, including any relevant medical conditions and a history of important medical indicators, which might be needed or relevant if required while you remain outside your home country
Within a reasonable time after your arrival, include an initial consultation with a GP who will review your information and be informed of your medical history, perform an eye test, hearing test, analyse your teeth, measure your blood pressure and measure your blood glucose levels if there is a history of diabetes.
Within a reasonable time after your arrival, include an initial meeting with a pharmacist, who will jointly review any medicines you may be taking or require and determine a plan if there are regular prescriptions to fill
Review your nutritional needs (a questionnaire will be sent out in advance for your completion)
Ensure that the core team of medical professionals with whom you might interact locally, update the system so that any updated information is available to you and to your doctor in your home country (should you return or think you might need to share that information with them)
Provide you with a tool, and updated medical information, to take back to your country of origin as and when you return. The supplier of our preferred medical information system will even conduct a webinar with your doctor at home on the use of the system, so that you can continue to use it as your single point of access for all your medical information.
